ESP/ASR Fault

Posted in Problems at 08:42 by my207

Friday morning I turned on the engine, and after a few seconds a loud and clear BEEEEP was heard. This sound nearly makes me shiver, thinking uh-oh what’s up?!

ESP warning

The message on the display read “ESP/ASR fault”, and the little orange ESP control lamp in the dashboard lights up. The push button to deactivate the ESP function also lights up as if I turned off ESP intentionally. Trying to push that button will activate the BEEEEP sound and the alert message again. I am not able to determine if the ESP is actually disabled, but I better believe it is.

So, it did not take a year before the next malfunction in the car appeared. I will call the repair shop today. I hope this is just another typical Peugeot electronics bug, like a loose plug or something.

The odometer says 22.012 km this far. By the way, I am satisfied with the fuel consumption, my average is 5.0 l/100 km (remember, I spend 85% of the time on the highway cruising speed approx 120 km/h when traffic permits).

UPDATE – just called Peugeot – the message was that this is potentially a safety issue which might cause blocking of the rear brakes. So don’t drive the car! I was adviced to call Peugeot Assistance which is included for the first two years of warranty. They will pick up the car and take it to the repair shop, and I was informed that if the car is not fixed today, I can have a replacement car for a maximum of two days.
